Honoring Our Founder
Richard Bakulumpagi Kabazzi was the guiding force of this ministry. A farmer, rancher, entrepreneur, and CEO, he dedicated his life to serving God and the people of Southern Uganda.
Born in Kiyebe, Richard's journey began with humble roots. Though he initially left school to work as a fisherman and laborer, a persuasive teacher led him back to his studies. This turning point eventually took him from Makerere University to the Denver Seminary in the United States, where he earned a Masters in Divinity.
After serving as a pastor in Kenya and a director for international students in the USA, Richard felt God leading him back to his homeland in 1986. Seeing the devastation of HIV-AIDS and the spiritual need in Southern Uganda, he answered a divine call to stay and formalize this outreach.
He established AROAD with a vision to serve the whole person—starting churches while meeting practical needs. His legacy remains a testament to a life lived in faith and service to the most vulnerable.
